We told you about Rishi Kapoor telling Khaled Mohamed about how Katrina Kaif cannot dare to take liberties like calling him ‘Papa’ and such like. In the same interview he revealed something rather shocking about awards. When Khaled asked him about honours and such like, Rishi candidly said that he believes the government often ignores the Kapoor family when it comes awarding the Padmashri. He did say that his family has gotten three Dadasaheb Phalke award and how he intends to work towards it, and how he had bought the Filmfare award one year!
I’m working towards that goal myself. I’d like to be awarded purely for my work and I will be. I won’t lobby for awards. Incidentally, I have no hesitation in admitting that I was impetuous once. I had to buy the Filmfare Award for my performance in Bobby… why’re you looking at me like that? That’s not off-the-record.
