Isn’t this something? :) Amaal Mallik, who is the music director behind some of your favourite tracks like Sooraj Dooba Hai, Naina, Main Hoon Hero Tera, just picked up the award for Best Music at the 22nd Star Screen Awards for Roy. He’s only 25, which makes him the youngest person to win a Screen award for Best Music – AR Rahman won at the age of 26 back in 1993 – so we bet that’s something he’s celebrating!
It’s really overwhelming….
Being nominated in the same category with Pritam & AR Rahman is something that I’m still unable to fathom.
Winning it was even more unbelievable…
I would like to state that this song couldn’t have happened without the 2 Kumaars, one being Mr Bhushan Kumar and the other my lyricist Kumaar.
Bhushan sir selected a song that was written off by atleast 20-30 producers that I had played it to, and today the very same song has been declared the song of the year at mostly all awards, and has connected with people from different walks of life. It’s been a year and it’s still playing.
The shelf life of songs today is very less and I’m glad I managed to make something that has survived even after the film.
My lyricist Kumaar is the genius who penned such wonderful words “Matlabi ho ja zara matlabi duniya ki sunta hain kyun khud ki bhi sunle kabhi ”
This award belongs to him for writing such a beautiful philosophy of life…. Sooraj Dooba isn’t a club track, it’s a track that teaches us how to live!
I would like to thank the jury. The Star Screen Awards is an award that’s been here for over 2 decades and has been bagged by very legendary composers.
I cannot express my happiness in words….
The gleam in my parents’ eyes is the best thing that has happened to me… My parents hugged me and cried last night!
My father had never been nominated or invited to any award function in his entire 10 year career… So for him and mom it’s a very emotional moment!
Last but not least I would like to thank Mr Salman Khan for giving me Jai Ho, such a huge film to debut with… Without him I don’t think I would ever become a music director!
