It’s no secret that Shahid Kapoor had recommended Kareena Kapoor‘s name for a role in Udta Punjab. The actor had earlier gone on record to say that he thought of Kareena as soon as he read the script of the film, and thought she’d be perfect for the role. He was skeptical about recommending her because he was “scared thinking about how people will perceive that again” but eventually did so.

And now, Kareena revealed to DNA that she did the film because of Shahid:

I was sitting on the film till considering whether I should do it or not when I got a call from Karan (Johar) to sign the film. He said Shahid requested him to call and persuade me as it was a role perfect for me.

Shahid had earlier also revealed that no one was saying yes to Udta Punjab and so they could not begin. Kareena wasn’t free initially and therefore the film got delayed. “Then somehow within that month, Kareena heard the script and said yes to the film. It kind of happened and I felt really happy when it did,” Shahid said earlier.

Awesome!
