Milan Fashion Week started with a bang yesterday and obviously there were a few that really tickled our fancy. Let’s rewind and break it down shall we? Ready-To-Wear never looked this good! Trust us. From Roberto Cavalli to Gucci, we’ve listed it all down for you…

There was quite a bit going on at the Gucci show but we really enjoyed pretty much all of it. There was a riot of colour and some queer combinations that aren’t for people who stick to the straight and narrow. But then there was some beautiful gowns that were reminiscent a past era too. We especially loved the pink chiffon dress! Alessandro Michele, the brand’s new creative director has really made his mark, don’t you think?

Roberto Cavalli

Peter Dundas also put on quite a show with brand Roberto Cavalli last night. The collection was rich and mystic, and while there was print and other inspirations seen, we couldn’t get past the beautiful, sheer, beaded dresses.

Blugirl, part of Blumarine was all femininity and romance on the runway of MFW yesterday. Designer Anna Molinari was quite aptly nicknamed ‘Queen of Roses’, we think. The use of a soft colour pallette, lace, sheer and ofcourse flowers,  all add to that romantic feeling that the collection is obviously meant to inspire. The high collars and ruffles on the other hand point to a a royal influence.

No21 (Numero Ventuno) by designer Alessandro Dell’Acqua showcased a very cool grungy, lumberjack meets runway vibe by pairing checks with denim and sheer. And layering over-sized knitwear with black net. Our favourite was the palm tree printed jacket over the sheer bottom. And that eye makeup and out of bed hair with bangs were screaming irreverance, which we loved!

Day 1 seemed to have taken off with quite a fashionable foot forward. Which look was your favourite?
