Director Kalpana Lajmi, who has made films like Rudaali and Daman: A Victim of Marital Violence is suffering from a serious kidney ailment and is in desperate need of financial aid. In a DNA report, the director used up all her savings to look after her mentor and companion Bhupen Hazarika during his dying days. Few of her close friends from Bollywood like Neena Gupta, Ila Arun and Soni Razdan are there by her side. Soni is also trying to organize a fund for Kalpana’s treatment. Helping her in this cause are Mukesh Bhatt, Kulmeet Makkar and Vinta Malik. Here’s what Soni has to say about this incident –
Kalpana is dealing with a kidney illness and has to undergo regular dialysis. That’s quite daunting. But she is being very strong about it. Kalpana is determined to get well.
