With just one day down, Amazon India Fashion Week Autumn/Winter 2016 has already set the ball rolling. Day one saw designers like Varun Bahl, who opened the show, Gaurav Jai Gupta, Hemant & Nandita, Kiran Uttam Ghosh and Gaurav Gupta to name a few. From shimmering jacquard fabrics to dimensional layering and a whole lot of ruffles and fringe, we saw a little bit of everything. Here are some of our favourites…
With giant bugs taking centre stage on Varun’s runway, it was the appliqué work on the garments we couldn’t take our eyes off.
Layers and reversible, handwoven fabrics made up most of Gaurav Jai Gupta’s collection
A mix of deep red, charcoal grey and jewelled toned embroidery came together in the form of dresses, shirts and outerwear in Hemant & Nandita’s AW collection.
Her collection, ‘Synthesis’ was a blend of hand crafted and dimensional layering techniques which made up dressy winter formals.
Shantanu & Nikhil presented gorgeous gowns in subtle shades of grey and beige with a shock of fiery red thrown in the middle.
Kiran Uttam Ghosh’s AW collection was all about silver taking the front stage. Her embroideries were inspired by textures from jewellery and included filigree work, pearls and crystals dotted through.
Structure came in the form of pleating, Ruching, frilling and folding in Rina Dhaka’s show. Knitwear in dark tones and dressy silhouettes made up her AW collection.
Gaurav Gupta presented ‘MELT’ at AIFW this season and since we have so much to say about it, make sure you read our full review here.
And that was just day 1…
