It’s that time of the year where we mentally prepare ourselves for the fashion frenzy that awaits us both on and off the ramp. Yes! I’m talking about Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort ’16! As we entered the first show of the first day our excitement just went a notch higher, especially because the show introduced fresh, talented designers like Gen Next, who are always a treasure to watch. Day 1 also saw designers like Sahil Kochhar, Anand Kabra and Sneha Arora amongst the many. Here’s a sneak peek to all the shows that cooked up a storm on the runway!

Gen Next

This year’s talented bunch of designers are sure to make waves in no time! While Aaylixir by Naveem Naaz Shaikh presented a playful collection of denims, Aqdus Saleem showcased some middle eastern glamour with turbaned models. Agrima Batra‘s collection was contemporary and chic with origami appliqués. Indigenous fashion with all indigo and white palette was brought by Chirag Chainani. And with giant collars and asymmetrical silhouettes Chola by Sohaya Misra was among the worthy Gen Next designers. To know and see more, click here.

In a garden-like setting, these designs were one of the best ethereal and occasion-wear couture we’ve seen in a while. The show had 12 model-installations each one nothing short of heavenly.

Archana Rao

The label Frou Frou by Archana Rao had a delicate mix of slip dress, crop tops and skirts that had pastel detailing.

Quirk Box

With dreamy french tunes, Quirk Box showcased a light and comfortable collection, which made it clear that art is the next black.

3D hand-cut embroidery and marble cut-work appliqué made this collection utterly ravishing.

Pranav Mishra and Shyma Shetty slayed the ramp with some major rebellious vibes with fury gorilla faces and snake motifs.

With some airy pieces that looked just a delight in the summer heat, the pleats were the major element of the collection.

Yogesh Chaudhary created a stunning collection of ethnic wear with a mélange of draped saris, skirts and palazzos that featured foiling embroidery technique.

Doodlage

Kriti Tula‘s collection of clean and simple silhouettes was inspired by the life of a globetrotter, making it every chic traveler’s pick!

Kanika Goyal

With erratic prints and funky slangs Kanika Goyal‘s collection was an ode to the digital age. TBH this show was way too cool for school!

Poco & Jacky

With camouflage print and deep aubergine, Poco and Jacky gave us some yoke shirts, onesies, crop tops and skirts.

Anand Kabra

Giving all the glam to a parking lot (which was the venue), this show saw all the glitter that instantly made us fall in love with the collection.

With molten gold as a key element, the collection was simply exquisite. There is a reason it was called ‘Gold Rush’ after all!

It transported us to a summer’s day in the meadows as the models sashayed down the runway with floral tiaras and bouquets wearing divine whites with some ruffles.

Bringing the banarasi brocade to life on the runway with some stellar pieces like sari and short and long jackets, this show brought a whole lot of vintage magic.
