I’m not really sure if what I saw last night was real, but my endless Snapchat story seems to prove so. After 5 long and tedious days at Lakmé Fashion Week, I somehow gave my engine enough fuel (more like coffee) to get through the last leg a.k.a the finale show! When I entered St. Xaviers College, the venue for the finale, I went on an entire nostalgia trip. Ask Anushka Mulchandani, she’s proof. After getting seated, and when the lights dimmed down, that’s when the magic took centre stage. Of course, runways are made to stage magic, but Rohit Bal‘s ‘Koroshni’ show came right out of a fairytale!
Somewhere between the gradual, dreamy music (like something you’ve heard in a broadway musical) and an army of male models slowly making their way out, the backdrop suddenly lit up like you’ve never seen before!
Although I was there for the fashion, I just couldn’t help staring at the backdrop – constantly. Because with every new edition to the collection that stepped out on the runway, the backdrop changed face. It started out with iced patterns, like something you’d see out of the movie Frozen, and then went onto roses, lots of sparkle and finally ended with poppies gracefully piling up as if they fell right out of the sky.
While the models took perfect swirls on the runway in pieces that were rich in organic fabric, embroidery and pristine gold amongst the other opulent lattice work, the crowd went wild when Kareena Kapoor Khan stepped out onto the magical runway.
Graceful, elegant and looking like an absolute dream, Kareena tread gently towards us all while bringing her game face in the most royal way ever! Between the craziness and the incredible backdrop, these are the designs that dazzled, and helped me realise our incredible Indian heritage. Take a look.
Not only was the show memorable and unlike anything we’ve ever seen before, but the kind of power it had is something that can never be obliterated from my mind. Hell, I’m still looking at my 10 minute long Snapchat story from last night!
