One of the best movies of 2016, Kapoor & Sons was a long delayed project due to the fact that the elder brother in story was homosexual. A lot of actors, including Hrithik Roshan, Saif Ali Khan and Farhan Akhtar reportedly refused to play the role Fawad Khan then took on. But while many people assume the established stars rejected the movie due to the character’s sexual orientation, the reason why Farhan refused the role was a little different. According to Rajeev Masand‘s column in Open Magazine, Farhan told the director Shakun Batra that he loved the film but he didn’t see himself play the older sibling. He was apparently the most upfront about his reservations as compared to the other actors offered this role. When the role was finally offered to Fawad, the actor signed the dotted line almost immediately when he heard the script. All’s well that ends well, we guess!
