A while ago, Sunny Leone was asked some rather cringe-worthy questions by senior journalist Bhupendra Chaubey during an interview. While the actress was applauded for the grace and dignity with which she handled it all, the interviewer was dissed by many and rightly so. Mr. Chaubey had also asked Sunny if she sees an actor of Aamir Khan‘s stature working with her someday. After the interview went viral for all the wrong reasons, Aamir took to Twitter and tweeted that he’d love to work with her. What’s more, the superstar had even invited Sunny and her hubby Daniel Weber to bond over lunch.
Slowly but surely, things have started to look up for Sunny in B-town. She also shot for a dance number with Shah Rukh Khan recently. Naturally, she is in a happy place now but, she hadn’t really felt this welcomed during her initial days in Bollywood. In an interview with Times of India, she opened up about the discrimination that she had to face in this industry. She said –
“I am still not clear if I fit in Bollywood even today. I see these people on TV, on red carpets, award shows and I find them so cool. And I look at myself and feel I am not so cool. When I entered the film industry here, I did feel isolated. One of the award shows I went to, no one wanted to go on stage with me. It was such a weird feeling, someone hates you that much.. or someone dislikes you that much. I don’t believe that is because of me as a person, I think it is just my name”.
However, Sunny also mentioned that she has managed to make a few friends in Bollywood and her fans keep her going. :)
