I remember interviewing Richa Chadha during my initial days as a journalist. It was right after Gangs of Wasseypur and I couldn’t believe she had played a mother of four sons in the film when I saw her breezing towards me in a bright orange tee and a pair of denim shorts. Not just her clothes, her persona was quite colourful too. Despite being at the nascent stage of her career, she was a far cry from her diplomatic contemporaries. She spoke her heart out to me during our rendezvous and I got not just one or two but many interesting quotes for my story.
I’ve met her many times after that and I love that she has managed to remain the same. The glamour world hasn’t changed her, but it did break her for a while. Richa speaks about her journey in Bollywood, being body shamed, dealing with an eating disorder and making a mark in the industry despite being an outsider during her TEDx talk. Watch:
