Abhijeet Bhattacharya took to social media to abuse a journalist after she corrected him. The singer, who had earlier called the victims of Salman Khan‘s hit-and-run case ‘dogs‘ for sleeping on the road tweeted a report which called the death of a girl the result of ‘Love Jihaad’. He was referring to the killing of a 24-year-old IT professional Swathi, who was murdered on June 24 by a jilted man, identified as Ram Kumar and not a Muslim man as some people tweeted. A journalist, Swati Chaturvedi and other twitter users said that Abhijeet should be arrested for making such remarks, what followed next was a Twitter rant where he called her a “besharam budhiya“. According to Mumbai Mirror, several media persons alerted the Mumbai Police on Twitter asking the cops to take action against the singer. The police officials then asked the journalist to share her contact details –

I received a call from a woman officer from the Mumbai Police, who advised me to approach a police station in my locality and register an FIR. The Mumbai Police have assured that they will investigate.

Abhijeet, on the other hand is unrepentant, here’s what he said about the entire incident –

I have no idea what love jihad is, and simply retweeted a news article and quoted it. I never created this, nor am I going to apologise. We have reached a saturation point where all journalists have to become nationalists. I am anti-Pakistani and that is the fact. By any means all these anti-national journalists should be put to an end, they should either be hanged or imprisoned. I have used my words properly, it could have been worse. This is just the start.

Here’s what he has been tweeting and re-tweeting since then –
