It was 10:55 am and I hopped, skipped and jumped to the Dessange Paris Salon & Spa (Living in Bandra, FTW!) for my #UltimateBraidBrunch appointment. I was excited, I won’t lie – to find out what this snazzy-sounding event was going to entail. Anybody who’s not me might’ve opted out of this one considering it was on a day off, but if there are two ‘B’ words I love, they are braids and brunch, so together it was impossible to say no to.
Anyway, I walked into the big, welcoming doors of the salon excited to see what my morning had in store for me. I’m a sucker for high ceilings, so right away I was drawn into the space. It was open, clean and minimalistic and to top it off, had lots of natural light flooding in. For real though, Dessange is THE place you need to be if you’re considering any spa or salon service, for 3 reasons. One, the space is seriously amazing (3,500 sq feet) and let’s be honest, size does matter. Second, the staff is amazing at their jobs and third, it’s in Bandra so it’s already winning!
The atmosphere was super chilled and yet, there was this buzz in the air. I could tell that the organisers were as excited to get started as I was. I found my station with ease because the lovely people at Kérastase customised funky AF nameplates for everyone with their picture on a canvas in watercolours. (WOW!)
A shot of espresso down, I flipped through the Book Of Braids that was being launched that day and was instructed to pick one I wanted for myself, oh joy! I feel the need to insert here that although I love braids, my fingers are not dexterous enough to enable self-braiding, so this kinda thing is tailor-made for me. Watch the hairstylist go!
From the countless braids and adjoining cutesy illustrations, I picked the Beach Wave Braid and was ready to go. Follow my journey through the picture gallery below.
After a lovely hair wash on those killer massage chairs, the hairstylist applied the right amount of Elixir Ultime for colour-treated hair by Kérastase to my damp hair to facilitate better styling and to bring out its radiance. There is nothing worse than a head full of unhealthy, un-sexy hair and considering it takes a simple routine of washing, conditioning and protecting your hair with the right products and serums, there ain’t no excuse for letting your locks go. But, back to me and my braid, the fact that my hair is coloured helped bring out the braid because you can clearly see the two tones of hair colour, which is fantastic! Also, I have to say that the half braid that is fishtail-inspired was really perfect for a beach look because I even got some light curls in the rest of my hair to further accentuate the beachy vibe. And the pretty flowers just added a nice finishing touch, don’t you think?
