Shiv Sena Wants To Regulate The Use Of Pokemon Go In Maharashtra

Well, it had to happen. On Friday in the legislative council, Shiv Sena legislator

Neelam Gorhe

demanded that Pokemon Go be regulated in Maharashtra. According to her, the game is a safety hazard as, firstly, people have to disclose their location while using the game, and secondly, it’s been reported to have caused accidents across the world. In an interview to Indian Express, she cited a bunch of incidents around the world where Pokemon Go has allegedly been a problem, but when pushed on whether she verified the incidents, she just said that she got them from Twitter.

Here’s her statement, according to TOI:

Countries like US have taken steps to regulate its use as many accidents were reported while people were playing it. Not all issues can be resolved by banning them but youngsters have been seen stopping vehicles in the middle of the road to catch Pokemons, and this can cause accidents.

TBH, my real issue here is the use of the word “Pokemons.” Sigh.

Chairman of the Legislative Council, Ramraje Nimbalar, has asked the government to seriously consider the issue, as he believes technology is not an enemy “till regulation is exercised.”

What are your thoughts?
