Rohit Bal’s #ICW2016 Finale Was An Ode To Russian Royalty

There were cars queued up way past the entrance of Bikaner House in New Delhi, so the only thing to do was hop out of our car and walk in coz there was no way we were missing the finale show of FDCI presents ICW 2016 by Rohit Bal. Earlier in the afternoon we even had a chance to chat with him about his collection and found out that it was inspired by the Czarist regime of Russia. Hence the over-excitement. Besides, it’s Gudda, so who wouldn’t be excited? The collection, titled ‘Kehkashaan’ was inspired by the extreme luxury and immense excess that was present in Old Russia in the times of the Czars.

Rohit used Swarovski Crystals in his collection to communicate this sense of opulence but in his signature understated, elegant way. His travels to Russia where he spent time in St. Petersburg’s museums and places like the Winter Palace served as the springboard for his creations. What made it even more interesting is that Russian grandeur was paired with austere Kashmiri craftsmanship to create something totally inspired. We also really loved the accessories (look at those shoes!) and jewellery by Shri Ram Hari Ram Jewellers.

Ok enough talk, it’s time to look at the beautiful collection:

The pictures speak for themselves, so there’s not much more for us to say, except isn’t he just too cool? Look at him go!

And that’s all she wrote! Peace out ICW, see you next year!
