Fashion Friday: Let’s Get Back To Basics For A Minute!

Lately I’ve been thinking and researching a lot about minimal fashion. I wish I could say I was a minimalist, but my closet packed full of clothes definitely gives me away. The older I get, the more I wish I didn’t have so many options to choose from. I end up taking more time in the morning to get ready than I should. And I eventually land up wearing a basic tee and my favourite well-fitted denims! So, I’ve decided to clean out my closet and get rid of things I don’t need.

The rule: If I haven’t worn a particular item of clothing in a year, I definitely don’t need it taking up space in my closet.

However, this doesn’t mean I shouldn’t have fun with my clothes. For some women who like a little bit of a wow factor in their outfits, minimalism can seem like a fancy word for “boring”. But this isn’t the case at all. You need to pick and choose items of clothing that might look simple at first glance, but upon closer inspection there’s a world of things to it. From clever cuts to lovely construction.

So, if you’re a bit overwhelmed by your wardrobe in the morning, or if you’re standing in your underwear staring at your closet and crying because you have nothing to wear, it might be time to clean out the clutter. It’s simple, just stick to some of your favourite “I Love” pieces.

Here are a few minimalistic outfit inspirations that’s helped me discover that minimalism doesn’t have to be mundane;

Beige might first appear as boring, but if you play around with different tones and cuts, you might just be suprised how cool it can look. Pic – lefashionimages.blogspot.com

You definitely need at least two or three well structured shirts in your minimalistic wardrobe.  Pic: maxinepanlilio.blogspot..com

Being a minimalist means, that now you can concentrate more on comfort. Comfy palazzo pants and structured crop tops can go a long way. Pic: Bloglovin.com

If you’re a shopaholic and you’re reading this post, you’re probably thinking I’m nuts. But the next time you’re out shopping, ask yourself this question – “Do I absolutely love this outfit?” If the answer is yes, buy it! But you have to be truely honest with yourself.

BR Style Tip: Think about shape, construction and fit first. Also, think about how you can pair it with most of the clothes you already have in your wardrobe.
