Unless you’ve been living under a rock so far, you’ve probably been tormented by this question and found yourself the victim of this love and hate shoe relationship. The ugly, but comfortable ’90s shoe trend has been going strong, and nothing fits the bill more precisely than the Birkenstock. I faintly remember owning a pair when I was a kid. I didn’t think much of it at the time, but then I didn’t have much of an opinion as to what I wore. I just put on whatever my mom bought me, so I guess my mom has great style.

For two years in a row, Birkenstocks-inspired sandals have walked the runways in spring fashion shows, and now high end retailers and online marketplaces are selling these classic hippie staples.

Truth is, I love these sandals. I do own a pair and I think they are perfect. They are my go-to sandals in the summer. There’s something about their minimalist design that I just love and above all else, they are practical and comfy. If you’re itching to mix your birkenstocks with a chic outfit, then take a look at these 10 inspiring looks.
