Rekha‘s biography has been creating immense buzz on the Internet as the woman has lived such an interesting life. While she was and remains one of the biggest names in Bollywood, life really wasn’t easy for the actress. At the beginning of her career, Rekha was sexually assaulted by her co-star when she was just 15 years old. She suffered major backlash even after becoming a superstar due to the death of her estranged husband, Mukesh Agarwal. In 1990, Mukesh committed suicide as he had been clinically depressed for years.

Despite being in Bollywood for 2 decades at that time, the actress only had Shashi Kapoor as a friend. The other people she worked with were either cold or said extremely horrible (and baseless) things about her, so much so that she was accused of driving Mukesh to suicide.

Prominent director and producer Subhash Ghai said –

Rekha has put such a blot on the face of the film industry… No conscientious director will work with her ever again.

Anupam Kher allegedly said –

She’s become the national vamp. Professionally and personally, I think its curtains for her. I mean I don’t know how will I react to her if I come face to face with her.

Film magazines put news like Mukesh hanged himself using her dupatta, and ran irresponsible headlines like “The Black Widow” and “How Rekha drove Mukesh to Attempt Suicide”. Her film that was playing at that time, Sheshnaag, was boycotted, and vandals blackened her face on its posters.

After this horrific incident, Rekha became the recluse she is known as currently.
