The wax museum, Madame Tussauds is certainly one of the most coveted places to be honoured. It’s a major tourist attraction and admit it, we all love it when we spot a popular personality from Bollywood with a strikingly similar wax statue of them. Gotta click pictures with all of ’em!
Over the years, a lot of our stars have been commemorated at the famous museum in its branches all over the world (We heard Madame Tussauds is coming to India too, btw!). Here is everything you need to know about Btown celebs at Tussauds.
Amitabh Bachchan was the first Bollywood star and Asian to be waxed at Madame Tussauds in year 2000. He was in the London museum till around 2009, after which the statue was rotated in New York, Hong Kong, Bangkok and Washington DC. According to an official statement, for the first time in the wax museum’s history, Bachchan was nominated by fans in a global online poll.
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is the first Bollywood actress to have her statue at the coveted museum. Her wax figurine was unveiled in London in 2004. She has another statue that was unveiled in New York on March 7, 2013, inspired from her look at the Cannes Film Festival, 2010.
King Khan got his first wax statue in 2007. He is also the first actor to shoot a film inside the museum. Director Maneesh Sharma requested for special permission to shoot a scene for his film Fan.
Before the film’s release, the statue was redressed as Gaurav Chandana, SRK’s character in the film. The model was open to public viewing at the London Eye, which was a first for any wax statue.
Salman Khan‘s wax figure was exhibited in 2008 after he was voted the 7th best looking man in the world by People Magazine, USA. How cool! He got another wax statue of himself in 2012 for Madame Tussauds in New York.
Our very own greek god, Hrithik Roshan is also standing tall at Madame Tussauds. He revealed his statue in 2011, along with his now ex-wife, Susanne Khan and their kids. While there was no official confirmation, we heard he made it to the list of Top 10 Most Kissed Celebs in the museum.
Kareena Kapoor got her wax statue in 2011 after which it got restyled in April 2015 and was unveiled in Madame Tussauds, Singapore. She was previously seen in her outfit from the song Mauja Hi Mauja from Jab We Met and later in her Chammak Challo avatar from RA.One.
Madhuri Dixit unveiled her statue at the wax museum in 2012. She is wearing a Varun Bahl sari and is styled by Shaina Nath. The Dhak Dhak girl’s statue looks as resplendent as she is herself.
Katrina Kaif is the latest from Bollywood to join the star bandwagon at Tussauds. The pretty actress’s wax statue was unveiled in March 2015 as part of the popular wax-work museum’s 15 years of Bollywood’ celebration. Rumours were rife around that time that she was chosen after winning a poll with Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone as competitors. Interesting!
