Apart from sweeping eight Oscars, Slumdog Millionaire gifted the world with young brimming talent that garnered stardom overnight. The film scored in screenplay, cinematography, sound mixing, film editing, direction and many other aspects. In a recent interview with Bollywoodlife, Anil Kapoor revealed that there was someone who had already predicted the success of the film. Apparently, Mirzya actor and Anil’s son, Harshvardhan Kapoor convinced his dad to take up the film.

Anil said in the interview:

When Danny Boyle approached me for Slumdog Millionaire, I wasn’t sure if I should have done the film as I had been in this industry for 38 years and international projects would keep coming to me. Harsh was the first to read the script as he’s a big fan of Danny and he pushed me to do the film. When I met Danny, I asked him for an autograph for Harsh and he gifted me a DVD of Transpotting with his autograph for my son and wrote on it, ‘Thank you Harsh, for convincing your dad.” It was Harsh who had predicted that Slumdog Millionaire would win many Oscars. I was even skeptical about doing the father’s role in Dil Dhadakne Do and Zoya Akhtar kept pursuing me. Every time Zoya would come to our third floor apartment, Harsh would step out of his bedroom in his pyjamas and tell me that I had to do the film.

Well, looks like Harshvardhan has an eye for successful projects. Let’s hope Mirzya does as well too!
