Socialite and philanthropist Parmeshwar Godrej, passed away last night at Breach Candy Hospital, Mumbai because of a lung disease she had been diagnosed with 5 years ago. Some days ago, she got an infection and doctors believed it was pneumonia.
Apart from her other work, Parmeshwar had also designed costumes and look for actor Hema Malini in her film Dharmatma on the request of her good friend Feroz Khan. She was known as one of India’s premier socialites and power brokers and she worked extensively in the mission to combat AIDS in India through the Heroes Project, an initiative she launched in 2004 with Richard Gere and support from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and Clinton Global Initiative.
Before her marriage to Adi Godrej, she was one of the first air hostesses for Air India.
