The actor was invited to inaugurate special Diwali stamps in New York in presence of the mayor, Bill De Blasio along with several other prominent personalities. About the event, Karan said:
It was a fantastic feeling and a moment of immense pride to just to be on times square amidst 50,000 people and the senator of NYC to release the 1st ever Diwali stamp… can’t stop replaying the moment in my head.
