In a bold move today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that as of 12am, November 9th, 500rs and 1000rs notes cease to be legal tender. This has been done in an attempt to “curb corruption” and “fight black money.” All 500rs and 1000rs notes will need to be deposited at banks or post offices by the end of December.
