Twinkle Khanna was in her element at the launch of her second book – The Legend Of Lakshmi Prasad. While the event had a smattering of stars like Akshay Kumar, Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Shabana Azmi, R Balki, Homi Adajania and Dimple Kapadia, it was Karan Johar (who hosted, of course) and Twinkle who stole the show. Here’s a list of the best things she said while chatting with Karan.

1) On being a feminist –

Twinkle pointed out how people still make feminism sound like such a strange word, when it actually just means equality of sexes.

She elaborated on how women have always been put in shackles by society and men, and now they’re finally waking up for their rights. One of the stories in her book was based on Arunachalam Muruganantham, the man who made the cheapest sanitary pads so that the women in rural India have easy access to it. She said he’s a bigger feminist than many women she’s met. Ranbir Kapoor read an excerpt from that story.

2) On shutting Karan Johar up when he made fun of Alia Bhatt’s general knowledge –

Alia Bhatt went up on stage to read a passage from the book (which was a tough task as Shabana Azmi had done a reading just before her). While calling her up on stage, Karan made fun of Alia’s ‘presidential’ mistake again.

Seeing that this joke is rather old and because she and Karan are BFFs, Twinkle turned the tables of Karan and asked him to say the full form of MNS. That literally left him speechless for a few seconds, it was hilarious!

3) On always questioning beauty standards –

My granny would always moan about the fact that I never brushed my hair and my mom would always try to put me on a diet and I would tell her I wouldn’t fit in. I would ask her why do I need to fit in a size for a dress?

Please make her the President!

4) On being a misfit –

We grow up and we need to conform to the society, to fit in. For all the oddballs and misfits out there, if you follow your path you will reach somewhere where no one has reached because you are meant to uniquely do some things which only you can do.

5) And finally, on dedicating the book to her husband, Akshay Kumar –

This book is dedicated to him (Akshay Kumar). He is my biggest cheerleader, my greatest support. He is a man who takes more pride in my work than anyone ever has, including my mother who is all the time kind of… Like somebody came up to her and said, ‘Your daughter is a good writer’ and she shouted and said, ‘This junglee?!’ So, I am very fortunate to have this man with me.
