A Super Easy Trick To Get Beach Waves

Natasha Patel

It doesn’t take a genius to realise that behind every lust-worthy celebrity ‘do is a talented hairstylist spending hours to get it just right. Well, not all hairstylists spend hours. Take

Jen Atkin and her army of mane hairstylists for instance. Jen, owner of Mane Addicts and founder of Ouai Haircare, has been making waves in Hollywood with cool-girl beach hair in just minutes! She introduces the “flat iron bend wave” that’s been spotted on everyone from Kim and Kloe KardashianOlivia Culpo, Victoria’s Secret model Lily Aldridge, and more.

Check out hairstylist Justine Marjan doing the “flat iron bend wave” method:

This bending process is essential in getting effortless looking beach waves. That’s because it creates imperfect, less uniform looking waves rather than perfectly coifed curls. Most importantly, it takes minutes to create!

Get The Look:

  1. Blow dry damp hair until completely dry.
  2. Spray Ouai Wave Spray throughout strands.
  3. Separate a 2″ section of hair.
  4. Using the flat iron, create a sharp bend in the hair (as seen above).
  5. Place the flat iron next to this new “wave” and bend with iron in the opposite direction.
  6. Comb through the waves with your hands to loosen up the waves.
  7. Spritz with Bumble and Bumble Holding Spray.
