29 Movies We Can’t Wait To Watch In 2017!

Shreemi Verma
Best movies of 2017

2016 has been a mixed bag for Bollywood. While we’ve seen brilliant and different films like Neerja, Kapoor & Sons, Dhoni and Pink do well, we’ve also had disappointments like Fan, Mohenjo Daro, Baar Baar Dekho, Mirzya and Rock On 2 which have been disasters at the box-office. The list of movies releasing next year looks really promising, so we’re kinda hoping they don’t disappoint. Check them out!

1) Raees

Raees

Have you seen the trailer? How can you not want to watch Raees?

2) Kaabil

Source: Twitter

Hrithik Roshan has always excelled when it comes to portraying difficult roles like a superhero in the Krissh series, a man-child with special needs in Koi Mil Gaya and emperor Akbar in Jodhaa Akbar. After seeing the kickass trailer and Hrithik and Yami Gautam‘s chemistry (they play a blind couple), we’re sure Kaabil is going to be amazing.

3) OK Jaanu

Shraddha Kapoor and Aditya Roy Kapur

The insanely popular Aashiqui 2 couple – Aditya Roy Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor are reuniting for the Hindi remake of Mani Ratnam‘s Tamil film OK Kanmani. With AR Rahman’s music and Gulzar’s lyrics, at least the album is going to be brilliant!

4) A Death in the Gunj

Konkona Sen Sharma‘s directorial debut, A Death in the Gunj is a thriller with an ensemble cast consisting of actors like Om Puri, Tanuja, Gulshan Devaiah, Kalki Koechlin, Jim Sarbh, and Ranvir Shorey. The movie has already premiered at international film festivals like 2016 Toronto International Film Festival and 21st Busan International Film Festival. It was also chosen to open this year’s MAMI. Needless to say, this is a must-watch!

5) Jolly LLB 2

A sequel to the 2013 sleeper hit Jolly LLB, this one has Akshay Kumar in the lead and Annu Kapoor as his rival lawyer. Huma Qureshi plays his love interest.

6) Rangoon

Set in the 1940’s, during the Second World Ward, Rangoon has Saif Ali Khan, Kangana Ranaut and Shahid Kapoor play the lead roles, with Vishal Bharadwaj as the director. This is a movie I’ve been excited for since it went on floors!

7) Badrinath Ki Dulhania

Alia and Varun re-unite for Badrinath Ki Dulhania and if it’s half as entertaining as Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania, we’re sold.

8) Sarkar 3

The third installment of the Sarkar series, this movie has Amitabh Bachchan play the title role, but Abhishek and Aishwarya will not be a part of this one. New additions to the cast include talented actors like Manoj Bajpayee, Jackie Shroff, Yami Gautamm, Ronit Roy and Amit Sadh amongst many others.

9) Phillauri

Anushka Sharma‘s second movie as a producer, Phillauri stars her, Diljit Dosanjh and Life Of Pi actor Suraj Sharma. This is what makes the movie rather interesting –

Interesting!

10) Naam Shabana

Taapsee Pannu is all set to kick some serious ass in the prequel to 2015’s blockbuster Baby. This one is based primarily on her character and that makes us all so happy!

11) Jagga Jasoos

Ranbir Kapoor, Katrina Kaif

Jagga Jasoos is finally releasing you guys! After multiple delays, ex-lovers Ranbir and Katrina are coming together for maybe the last time in a movie. Anurag Basu and Ranbir’s last collaboration was Barfi! so our expectations are rather high with this one.

12) Noor

Sonakshi plays a journalist, and one of the creators of Pretentious Reviews, Kanan Gill is making his Bollywood debut. This might just be the rom-com of the year.

13) Baahubali: The Conclusion

Baahubali

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!

14) Baadshaho

After Once Upon A Time in Mumbai, Milan Luthria, Ajay Devgn and Emraan Hashmi are back with Baadshaho. Aren’t you excited?

15) Meri Pyaari Bindu

With this movie, we’ll be seeing Parineeti Chopra on the big screen after a while. Her fresh pairing with Ayushmann Khurrana will be interesting to watch.

16) Half Girlfriend

After 2 States, Arjun Kapoor is coming in another adaptation of a Chetan Bhagat novel. This time with Shraddha Kapoor instead of Alia Bhatt. Will this be a huge success like 2 States?

17) Toilet – Ek Prem Katha

Akshay Kumar – check, Bhumi Pednekar – check, intriguing title – check.

18) Raabta

Kriti Sanon, Sushant Singh Rajput

Rumoured couple Sushant Singh Rajput and Kriti Sanon‘s sizzling chemistry is reason enough for us to be excited for Raabta.

19) Tubelight

BHAI!

20) Chef

The Bollywood remake of Chef has Saif Ali Khan and Sobhita Dhulipala. I personally loved Jon Favreau‘s movie and I know Saif will be perfect for the role. What say?

21) The Ring

Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma are starring in Imtiaz Ali‘s latest movie, which is rumouredly based on R.K Narayan‘s book and Dev Anand‘s movie Guide is the movie I’m most excited for.

22) Simran

After the intense Rangoon, Kanagana Ranaut will be back as Simran, a story of a divorced Gujarati woman and we can’t wait to see her do her thang!

23) Judwaa 2

The cult classic of the ’90’s, Judwaa is getting a remake, this time with Varun Dhawan playing Salman Khan‘s iconic character. They’re also recreating the original movie’s song Tan Tana Tan Tan Tan Taara so we’re sold.

24) Reloaded

Bang Bang‘s sequel but with Sidharth Malhotra and Jacqueline Fernandez instead of Hrithik Roshan and Katrina Kaif. Hope the music will be as good!

25) 2.0

Robot’s sequel, but this time the invincible Rajnikanth will be fighting a very scary looking Akshay Kumar. Akshay has a very interesting 2017 coming up you guys!

26) Golmaal Again

With Golmaal 4, Rohit Shetty will be reuniting with Ajay Devgn and give the audiences a Diwali bonanza (bonanza is such a funny word, isn’t it?). This time Parineeti Chopra will be giving Ajay company.

27) Padmavati

Sanjay Leela Bhansali‘s Padmavati is already one of the most headline-grabbing movie of 2016. Ranveer Singh is playing a negative character for the first time, Deepika Padukone is returning to Bollywood after a year and Shahid Kapoor is playing her husband. If there would be a contest for the best movie cast, Padmavati would win it fair and square.

28) Tiger Zinda Hai

BHAI! This time with ex-girlfriend Katrina Kaif!

29) Mom

Sridevi‘s next after English Vinglish is the much awaited Mom. Also starring the very talented and very elusive Akshaye Khanna and the brilliant Nawazuddin Siddiquee.
