Sonam Kapoor, who is generally known for slaying the red carpet at every award show there ever has been, was recently in a little bit of a soup. The actress was meant to give away an award for Lifetime Achievement to Rekha, and had even prepped for it by dancing to the latter’s most celebrated songs in history, but was in for some rather unpleasant news.
According to a report in Pinkvilla, Deepika Padukone, who confirmed her entry only last minute, said she’d like to present the award – perhaps not knowing who was going to do this earlier. The makers wanted her to attend, so it would a complete star-studded event, and decided to allow DP to give the award away, thereby replacing Sonam.
But what did end up happening though was that Sonam performed to all of Rekha’s numbers and called her on stage after making an announcement, but it was Deepika who handed the award to her.
Guess the makers figured out a way to make this work 🙂
