As controversies go, this has got to be the lamest one of 2017 yet.

Harshvardhan Kapoor, son of Anil Kapoor and brother of Sonam Kapoor, made his Bollywood debut last year with Mirzya. Mirzya bombed at the box office and didn’t do too well in the critical acclaim department either. Harshwardhan still apparently won the best debut award on all the award functions – barring Filmfare.

Harsh went on record to express his disappointment and the whole thing just seemed like it was in really bad taste. He said:

I won every award except Filmfare. You don’t know what kind of goes into it. Some awards have a jury and they decide. Some have a popular vote. So I don’t know how they decided this year. I think debutant awards should be for people who are relatively new to films. I have done less work. Otherwise, it is like saying I have done 100 English films and now I am doing a Hindi film so I am a debutant. So if Leonardo Di Caprio wins an Oscar and then comes to do a Bollywood movie, he is a debutant which is not something I agree with.

When Diljit was asked for a comment, he simply said:

I am not hurt. I am not sad. I am thankful to Filmfare Awards for the honour that they gave me. I don’t think I was deserving enough. It’s a big award (and) I think they would have seen something in me and so they gave me the award. For me the love of my fans matter the most and that’s the biggest award for me. I love Harshvardhan Kapoor. I also like his father Anil Kapoor, he is a superstar.

Now, in an interesting twist of events, Harsh has tweeted to apologize to Diljit:

Considering he has tagged Anil Kapoor in the tweet too, it really seems like Papa Kapoor made Harsh apologize. What do you think? Tell me in the comments!
