Can you even believe this is happening? Talk about some Steve Harvey deja vu.

At the Oscars, Warren Beatty was tasked with announcing the winner for best film. He paused, stared at his envelope, and then handed it over to his co-presenter Faye Dunaway (presumably) to check. She, instead, announced it: La La Land. Everyone celebrated, the cast and crew came up on stage, got through their acceptance speech… and just as they were done, had to stop and announce that there was a mistake:

Moonlight, you guys won best picture. This is not a joke.

So what happened?

Warren Beatty took to the mic to explain what happened, and he said that he’d been handed the wrong envelope. He opened it, and it said “Emma Stone, La La Land.” He explained that that’s why he took such a long look, and he wasn’t trying to be funny.

And how did the Moonlight acceptance speech begin?

Even in my dreams, this could not be true. But to hell with dreams. This is true.

You can’t make this stuff up.
