Karan Johar

Karan Johar has given to us all some of our most favourite films like Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, and more recently, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. No one explores emotions and heartbreak like he does… So, one would wonder where he gets this from. Bollywood films are often criticised for being a little too dramatic, and the director was asked about this ‘drama’ at the recently held India Today Conclave. Here’s what he said.

People say Hindi films are theatrical and dramatic, but somewhere its roots are in real life. I have been at a shaadi ka mandap when the love of my life was getting married to somebody else… When it happens to you, you feel like you can’t get over what’s happening to you. A happy marriage in the industry would really jolt me. I’d be like, ‘You’re a dinosaur, get out of here.’

When asked if he’d pick true love over money, he quickly said,

True love goes away, lust takes over at times, so I would be rich and single.

Got to love how he’s sometimes so unabashedly honest about his life.
