Iridescent purples, rainbow hues… we thought we had seen it all when it came to highlighting. As always, Instagram is here to prove us wrong.
Dubbed as neon strobing, this fad is all about bold shades. The creator, makeup artist – Dezzy Lopez, uses fluorescent pigments to take his glow to the next level. Just as one would use any highlighter, he applies strokes of colour along the high points of his face. The electrifying finish, however, is unlike anything we’ve ever seen!
The hero of this trend is clearly the makeup used. Dezzy uses products from brands such as Moon Glimmer Cosmetics, Lime Crime and BeautyBarBaby to create his otherworldly glow. To keep the focus on his highlight, he keeps the rest of his skin matte. The finishing touches come in the form of defined brows and a shimmery or glossy pout.
If you would like to hop on to the neon bandwagon, mix a bright pigment with your favourite highlighter prior to applying. For a quick fix, use a coloured highlighter or palette.
Although this trend isn’t apt for an everyday look, the vivid hues and luminous finish make it perfect for summer nights! We can’t wait to see how you wear it.
