Review: Chanel’s Blue Serum

Natasha Patel

Chanel has always been known to create the most luxurious and innovating things; clothing, makeup, accessories. But in a world filled with moisturisers, serums and other skin-beneficial products, it’s easy to get lost in the chaos of it all. However, once I heard about Chanel’s Blue Serum, I took a major interest.

This little white bottle is an all-in-one serum that promises to even out the skin tone, lifts and firms, smooths, nourishes, brightens, AND tightens pores. Can’t be true can it? Well Chanel’s innovative research is a combination of the best of both worlds; nature and technology. Using ingredients from the “blue zones”; Nicoya in Costa Rica, Sardinia in Italy, Ikaria in Greece and Okinawa in Japan, Chanel’s serum consists of powerful antioxidants like olives, green coffee and lentisk.

After applying a drop onto my skin, the first thing that caught my attentions was the texture. It’s very thin and just melted right into the skin. You can use this after your shower in the morning—between getting ready and your makeup application. It could be used right before bed on makeup free and clean skin. It can also be used alone as a serum or as a pre-serum to boost the benefits of your other skincare products like moisturisers and toners!

The benefits listed are extraordinary. But somehow for my skin type, it didn’t work. I have combination-dry skin which is sensitive around the cheek areas. And since it already had remains of fading red marks it did nothing for me. However, once those marks completely fade I will resume using the blue serum diligently. Stay tuned!
