However, that isn’t the case for women of colour most of the time. Mixing and matching different shades to finally achieve the perfect one can be a little tedious and time consuming. Attorney-turned-entrepreneur Kimberly Smith felt a need to serve diverse customers; which had her create a whole website purely dedicated to selling beauty products made for women of colour!
Say hello to Marjani, everyone! This e-commerce site offers a variety of skincare, cosmetics, haircare and body care products for dusky to medium and dark skin tones. This website brings so much focus to diversity and will be a game changer for Indian women!
While you will find close to nineteen brands on the site, most of them will not be recognisable. The reason for that is that founder Kimberly intentionally seeks out indie ones, most of which are Black-owned.
These products are highly pigmented so the true colour can actually show up on the skin. How amazing is that?
