Shivaay (Nakuul Mehta) and Anika’s (Surbhi Chandna) romance in Ishqbaaz has been on hold since a very long time now. Every time the two get close, the Oberois face a new trouble that throws their romance off the track.
After the entry of Shivaay’s lookalike Mahi, their relationship faced further complications. But now that Mahi is not in their life anymore, Shivaay’s mother, Pinky has turned the new villain. The current plot shows Pinky being upset with the growing closeness between Shivaay and Anika – and she decides to separate them by creating misunderstandings.
During the Kulgotra pooja, she reveals the truth of Anika growing up in an orphanage, which comes as a surprise to Shivaay. However, he stands by her. Following this, Anika, who is on a mission to find Mahi’s connection with Shivaay, follows him to get his DNA test done. She decides against telling about it to Shivaay, lest he stops her on safety grounds. Pinky takes advantage of this opportunity and tells Shivaay that Anika has a soft corner for Mahi.
After a string of misunderstandings, Anika decides to leave the house. An excited Pinky tells Shivaay to divorce her and marry someone who suits their family’s level. However, Shivaay refuses to do anything of that sort.
