Shantanu & Nikhil began the season of couture 17′ with some serious military vibes to the fore. They showcased their AW 17′ collection; ‘The Regiment’ at The Imperial Hotel in Delhi. Inspired from the Indian armed forces, the collection imbibed 3 strong virtues of the Indian military–Discipline, pride and togetherness. The show was a power-packed salute to everything Nehruvian.
Needless to say that the duo certainly put everybody in formation! Check out the 5 things we absolutely loved about the show:
1. It made us fall in love with uniform even more.
One of the reasons we love the men in olive green is because of their uniform. It might be the values it bestows or the pride it upholds but there’s something unmissable about it. Shantanu & Nikhil gave the uniform an edgier and chicer upgrade with sharp tailoring.

2. No one does accessories better than military and they knew it!
The show OD’ed on accessories that were a match made in heaven for each look. Epaulets, handcrafted vintage coin buttons & rustic medallion like brooches in crystals from Swarovski gave the collection the perfect glam.

3. The detailing was to die/kill for.
We could see the attention each piece was given during its creation. We saw a perfect blend of intricate metallic embroidery with patch pockets and tassels. From accessories to each outfit had a certain ‘oomph’ that stood right by the military stands!

4. Anti-trend (to the) bridal wear for the win!
The collection seemed to create an anti-trend when it came to bridal couture. Minimalistic pieces like bandh-galas and sherwanis for men and velvet lehengas for women redefined bridal couture.

5. Navjot Singh Sidhu lead the dapper army.
Who could be more fitting to lead this stylish army than the man whose charisma and dapper-ness speaks for himself? His march down the runway was the final victory for The Regiment!
