Sonakshi Sinha was on the latest episode of Neha Dhupia‘s super fun podcast, #NoFilterNeha. The actress was quite candid and opened up about her personal life – growing up in a star family, her career path as a fashion designer, her love for food and of course, landing a Bollywood debut with Salman Khan.

Sona revealed how Salman convinced her to give movies a shot, and she anyway wanted to make the transition to a healthier lifestyle. Thereafter began Sonakshi’s fitness journey! At that time, she was 17 and weighed 90 kilos. She told Neha:

I used to weigh around 90-92 kilos. When I did Dabanng, I lost 30 kilos. I have weighed between 80-90 kilos as far as I can remember. It took me two and a half years to lose those 30 kilos. I did it slowly, I really had to dedicate a lot of time to it. Salman would always give me certain bits of advice but I tried a lot of things. I get bored very easily, so I started going to the gym, started with spinning classes, then I used to swim, I used to play tennis, then I started weight training, then I used to do cardio. So I kept switching it around.

Neha further asked her if she ever woke up in the morning feeling frustrated about the entire process, to which she replied:

It was frustrating for sure, but I remember that being that size was even more frustrating than being on my way to losing it. I think that really kept me motivated, so I lost my first 10 kilos and I was like “Oh wow, let’s see how much more I can lose!” and then I lost 10 more, so that was 20 kilos down. Then I was like okay, let’s see where this goes! Eventually, I lost 30 kilos and he (Salman) met and said come on, do this film.

TBH, I loved Sona in Dabanng and Lootera and I was as much in awe of her kickass performance in Akira and Noor.
