In April this year, a catchy little tune called  “Everybody Dances To Techno”, by a young singer-songwriter who calls herself Dot. started floating around on the internet. Of course, I was intrigued and promptly gave Dot.’s YouTube channel a click. What I found was more than pleasing to the ears, with bits and pieces of her compositions staying in my mind for days and weeks that followed.

Dot., is 18 years old, from Delhi and currently studying Music and Creative Writing at Bangor University in Wales (UK). She’s inspired by the lush expanse of the Welsh countryside and the good ol’ hustle and bustle of her homeland. Her playful and quirky sound is influenced by artists like KT Tunstall, Fiona Apple, Ella Fitzgerald and Latin, jazz and classic pop outfit Pink Martini. All of them rank high up on my list of favourites, so it’s no wonder that I instantly warmed up to Dot.’s vibe. She’s got a special spark that comes through in her compositions, which lead me to ask the most obvious question – When do we get to see this talent live in India?

Right on cue, I got my answer from Independent music magazine, label and event company, Rock Street Journal, more popularly known as RSJ. They announced a series of intimate concerts called “Tiny Big Scene” with a well rounded 5 city tour of India with our girl of the moment, Dot.

She has already played sold out shows at her hometown, ie, Delhi and is all set to hit up Goa on the 4th, Mumbai on the 9th, Delhi again on the 17th, Bangalore on the 19th and Pune on the 20th of August.
