Oh, the marvelous mayhem that is New York Fashion Week! The entire city transforms into a haven of haute couture, celebrity sightings, and magical chaos. But if you think that’s all that fashion week is–you haven’t yet witnessed the half of it. This year, backstage at the Bibhu Mohapatra show, I fell in love with NYFW all over again. The hustle and bustle of models running from hair & makeup to wardrobe, the style director yelling last minute adjustments as he walks through the room, and the pure energy and excitement of each individual back there with me was absolutely contagious.
However, while most people were there for the clothes (which, if I may add, were nothing short of captivating), I was there for the jewels; for the diamonds and pearls that are something, every girl dreams of. For the first time ever at NYFW, Narayan Jewellers by Ketan and Jatin Chokshi showcased their festive collection crafted with Forevermark diamonds and in collaboration with ace fashion designer Bibhu Mohapatra – It was love at first sight! Not just the designs, which were the perfect balance of femininity and boldness, but even the workmanship was stunning. Each piece was its own unique work of art–no wonder they’ve been at it for over 75 years now!
My favorite piece (not that it was easy to choose) was the four-finger ring–a super special jewel that captures the beauty of raindrops and flowers co-existing in nature. (Birthday present, anyone?)
