Whether you’re prepping for a beach vacay or just want to change up your hair-removal routine, getting a bikini wax is an idea you should definitely consider. We understand that the thought of getting your hair pulled out from its roots down there sounds really scary and painful but the end result is definitely worth it. So, before you book your first appointment, keep these five simple yet essential tips in mind to make sure your experience is stress-free.

Find A Reputable Salon

Ask around, read reviews and find a reputed salon that follows the basic standards of hygiene. Do not be afraid to leave if the parlor doesn’t seem hygienic. To double check, talk to your waxing expert about using a clean applicator and fresh wax, not one that is being re-used from another client’s visit.

Let Your Hair Grow Out

Leave the razor aside and let your hair grow out to at least a quarter of an inch before you decide to get it done. If the wax isn’t able to grab onto your hair, the session won’t be a successful one.

Pop A Painkiller

Because the hair removal is happening in such a sensitive part, it typically hurts more than any other region of your body. Consult your doctor and pop a painkiller that you are familiar with.

Wear Loose Clothes

Keep your skinny jeans, leggings and tight clothes aside for when you book this appointment. Your area down there will feel sore and sensitive after the wax, but will eventually calm down. Wear a skirt or drop pants to avoid further irritation in the area.

The Redness Is Normal

Last, but definitely not the least! You will see redness and feel discomfort after that wax, but rest assured because that is short lived. Use Aloe Vera gel or a doctor-recommended cooling cream to calm your skin.
