Raqesh Bapat and Ridhi Dogra shot to fame as Aditya & Priya in the popular TV show, Maryada – Lekin Kab Tak. They were each others reel life romantic interest back in 2010, but little did they know that reel life will become reality some day.
In fact, they did not even take a year to decide they want to be together forever. They got married on May 29th, 2011, barely a year after their show went on air. Well, you know what they say – when the heart knows, it knows!
It all started when…
The two first met for the shoot of Yash Raj’s series, Seven at the Globus Mall in Mumbai. Thereafter, they got to know each other on the sets of their show. They instantly connected and realised that they felt really comfortable in each others company. Ridhi told an entertainment portal that conversation just flowed between them, so much so that even their proposal was a regular conversation.
Pyaar dosti hai!
Shah Rukh Khan may have said it, but Ridhi and Raqesh proved it. They stated out as friends, fell in love an eventually got married. They both firmly believe that they are “best friends who decided to get married.” Ridhi told BollywoodShaadis.com that:
Ours was the classic case of ‘we were meant to be together’, both of us individually didn’t want to get married. Everyone had given up on me and him in our families. When we met on Maryada we ourselves felt an instant ease and comfort with each other. Our first scene was an intimate scene on a bed, and we broke the bed! We laughed it off and became really good friends, more like buddies.
The rest, as they say, is history!
Raqesh & Ridhi did not court each other. They got married straight away, without getting engaged or participating in other ceremonies. It’s been almost 6 years since they tied the knot, but their Instagram feeds tells us they might just be in their honeymoon phase. Their social media PDA is aww-dorable!
They also participated in Nach Baliye 6, but unfortunately had to quit due to Raqesh’s knee injury. They also endorse his brand of paintings together. Both of them make sure that their hectic schedule doesn’t let their relationship suffer. Life partners in true essence!
Speaking to BollywoodShaadis.com, Ridhi also said that:
I have a friend in him for life! He is really a fantastic partner. The best thing for me individually is that he wants me to evolve, grow and have an independent identity of my own. He pushes me to broaden my horizon as a person and open myself up to life beyond acting and tap my true potential. Also, he is so creative and intrinsically talented that the atmosphere at home is filled with possibilities and inspirations.
Theirs is truly a filmy love story, isn’t it?! It’s always wonderful if friendship culminates into love so beautifully.
