Barun Sobti & Sanaya Irani became the reel life ‘it’ couple due to the fandom achieved by their show, Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon. The show went on to have 3 seasons, but none of them matched the popularity of season 1, where Barun and Sanaya played Arnav & Khushi.
A lot of expectations were riding on Season 3, which marked the comeback of Barun in the hit TV show. Shivani Tomar played the female lead in the show’s third outing, which unfortunately failed to deliver as per to the expectations.
At a recent event for his upcoming film, Tu Hai Mera Sunday, IndiaForums asked Barun the reason IPKKND failed to perform well. He said:
6th of October is going to be the last telecast (of Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon) and co-incidentally, our film will also be releasing on that day itself. To be honest, if we knew the reason we would fix it. So I don’t know the reason but it’s okay. Sometime, things work and sometime it doesn’t.
He was further asked if the unrealistic aspects of the show worked against it, to which he responded:
I can never comment on the unrealistic part because the first job of an actor, as he gets the script is to be convinced about it. Otherwise I won’t be able to portray it right. So I can’t comment on that.
