A couple of weeks ago, some photos of Ranbir Kapoor and Mahira Khan outside a hotel in New York surfaced on the Internet, and social media has since then gone on overdrive. From people calling her his girlfriend to haters passing lewd comments about her outfit and decision to smoke, Mahira received a lot of undeserved flak. She chose to stay mum about the matter and didn’t pay any heed to it, but her friend Ali Zafar came out in support of her and wrote this lovely note asking people to think before they speak. Ranbir Kapoor too spoke about the photos saying he’s gotten to know Mahira well over the last couple of months and she doesn’t deserve the hate that came her way.
Mahira has just become the brand ambassador for L’oreal and is the first Pakistani woman to do so. Naturally, this was a big moment for her but someone asked her about the photos at the press conference for the event, and she had the best response.
Through the times of turbulence, through the joys, through the ups and downs, through the mistakes we make and all the success we get, let nobody… nobody’s opinion define who you are, And if anybody defines who you are, let it be yourself. Because including me and all the women out there, we’re all worth it.
