The folks behind one of the country’s biggest multi-genre music festivals – Vh1 Supersonic – revealed the headliners for their 2018 edition this weekend. And boy oh boy, did it make our heads spin!

The three-day long festival made it’s most significant and exciting announcement till date – not only will the fifth edition feature some of the biggest names from the world of dance music but will also feature a brand new Live Stage.  If you’re a rock music fan like me, then this is some especially tasty news.

Vh1 Supersonic previously announced the reigning kings of EDM and “Lean On” producers, Major Lazer as their main crowd puller and now adding to that, we’ve got the world renowned dance music producer, Marshmello, to look forward to. The festival will feature a houseful arena with a specially curated artist line-up by the lord of techno ensembles, The Awakenings, and special guests – house music DJ, Dillon Francis and techno artist, Joseph Capriati as well.

The all new Live stage will be headlined by alternative rock music legends, Incubus, making this a dream come true for thousands of ardent fans of the band (like me!) across the country. These guys sit right up top on my list of must watch bands – they’ve lived the test of time with their vast catalogue of beloved songs and have evolved and matured with their oldest fans while continuing to attract newer fans year after year. Joining them, we get to welcome back British indie group, Alt-J, for their second set of live shows in India.

The festival boasts a carefully curated list of homegrown Indian artists as well. DJs and producers like Arjun Vagale, Ash Roy, Su Real, DJ SA and Kohra and live acts such as electro-rockers Donn Bhat + The Passenger Revelator, electro-pop pair Parekh & Singh and dream pop duo Lands round up what the festival is calling a #SuperLineup. I honestly couldn’t agree more! They get top marks in my books for what’s been revealed so far.

About the super line-up of Vh1 Supersonic 2018, Nikhil Chinapa, Festival Curator – Vh1 Supersonic said,

“The diversity of artists in our lineup for our festival’s fifth edition is reflective of the many voices at Vh1 Supersonic, who’ve come together to finalise our programming mix this year. From rock and indie music to future bass and driving techno, our festival embraces many sounds. I do hope that if you roll into our festival to listen to one genre, you will roll out having accidentally discovered a few others – and that your musical landscape would have forever been altered. That, without doubt, would be the most gratifying outcome of our team’s work this past year.”

There’s no denying that this festival just keeps getting bigger and better, year after year. So gear up guys and gals, keep your trigger fingers ready…

The fifth edition of Vh1 Supersonic takes place at Laxmi Lawns in Pune on the 9th, 10th & 11th of February 2018 and tickets will be available from the 15th of November, 2017. Evidently, the festival is yet to announce more artist on this lineup, and already, for me, February 2018 can’t come soon enough 🙂
