I am a sucker for all kinds of good music. But nothing warms my heart like some soulful Bollywood songs do! No points for guessing that most of my playlists comprise of various songs crooned by Arijit Singh. Naturally, I was super excited to attend his GenM music concert at the MMDRA Grounds in Mumbai. And so were over 20,000 other Mumbaikars who had gathered at the mentioned venue to witness Singh’s magic.

The concert was organized by Mpower – which is the brainchild of Mrs. Neerja Birla which encourages dialogue to alleviate all and any stigma around mental health. And it was rather overwhelming to see so many people come together for a great cause.

From Channa Mereya and Illahi to Zaalima and Tum Hi Ho – Arijit performed to most of his celebrated songs, leaving the audience enthralled. The crowd couldn’t stop singing along and chanting his name after every song.

Various bigwigs from Mumbai’s social circuit like Kumar Mangalam Birla, Ananya Birla, Dino Morea, Kanika Kapoor, Armaan Mallik, Anjali Tendulkar and Rashmi Thackarey were present there to support the noble cause.

Arijit Singh, a champion of mental health said, “I’m extremely thrilled to be a part of this initiative. With everything happening in the world right now, I believe that we all need to come together and stand up for causes that truly affect us. Every voice matters and I’m lending mine too. Our entire team is showcased a new live set. The GenM concert is special. More importantly, I  witnessed people standing with me in support of the Mental Health #EarForYou movement. It was a beautiful experience for everyone involved.”

Mrs. Neerja Birla, Founder, Mpower said, “It is widely known that music as a universal language has a positive, calming, soothing effect on mental health. Seeped in melody and rhythm, GenM is a vibrant attempt to bring together our young change makers – the youth – to join the movement and stamp out stigma. We are very happy that so many champions of mental health enjoyed their evening with Arijit Singh at the GenM music concert.”

Thank you Arijit Singh and MPower for giving us a magical experience.
