There has been a lot said and done about nepotism over the last couple of months in Bollywood. From actors coming out and saying it exists to others defending it saying it happens in every industry – the good thing here is that it’s being talked about. Karan Johar has been in the limelight for this after that infamous episode on Koffee With Karan where Kangana Ranaut accused him of nepotism.

He has chosen to put the behind him but it looks like this debate isn’t dying down anytime soon. He was further accused of it when he introduced Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter to the movies and released the poster of their film Dhadak.

Ishaan’s father Rajesh Khatter has now come out in support of the producer and said that Ishaan is being targetted for being Shahid’s brother. He told DNA,

It’s not as if Karan was compelled to take Ishaan! He is going by the subject and what he wants to project. The story is about youngsters in the 18-21-year-old age bracket and he wanted actors with no image, which is why he chose them. Social media is great to reach out if you have something to convey or share, but unfortunately, it has become an open defecation ground for trolls, where people want to dump their shit on anyone they fancy. It is not like those with no connections to the industry are not getting a break. Look at Rajkummar Rao. Was nepotism applicable in Shahid’s case? His parents – Pankaj Kapur and Neelima Azim – were not huge stars. He made his way up. Today, they are targetting Ishaan for being Shahid’s brother.
