Sanjay Leela Bhansali‘s Padmavati would have released today, but outside forces – like random religious groups, politicians and people who have a lot of time to waste, made the fictional tale of a long dead queen a national issue. As per reports, SLB is now having a mediation with some members of the parliament and Chairman of the CBFC, Prasoon Joshi, all of this, to secure a nation wide release of his magnum opus.

SLB and the movie’s lead actress Deepika Padukone have a bounty on their heads and some people have also threatened to chop off Deepika’s nose. Most of these hatemongers are affiliated to the ruling political party of this country in some way. Due to this, Deepika and SLB have been given 24 hour police protection.

To show solidarity with Sanjay and Deepika, actress and politician Shabanza Azmi has decided to approach the powers in New Delhi directly. As per a report on DNA, Shabana, along with prominent Indian actors are going to New Delhi to submit a written letter seeking support and protection for Deepika Padukone’s safety.

Another actress turned member of parliament – Jaya Bachchan will be going with Shabana in the capital. As for the letter, many actresses have shown interest in signing it, including Katrina Kaif and Kangana Ranaut, to show solidarity with their peer in the industry.

If the news is true, it’s nice to see people put their differences aside and come together for an important cause.
