Karan Johar

What do Mera Naam Mary Hai (Brothers) and Chikni Chameli (Agneepath) have in common apart from the fact that they take female objectification way too far?! Well, they both belong to movies produced under Karan Johar‘s banner, Dharma Productions.

Known to be quite vocal about his opinions, Karan has now apologised for including item songs in his movies. In an interview with SheThePeople, KJo spoke about several issues such as Feminism, gender wage gap, female objectification and the recent Harvey Weinstein sexual abuse case.

Karan said that films set the fabric of our times, which is why filmmakers should be conscious of what they show on celluloid. He further admitted to making the same mistakes and vowed to not repeat them. He said:

The moment you put a woman in the centre and a thousand men looking at her lustingly, it’s setting the wrong example. As a film maker I have made those mistakes and I will never do it again.
