One of the biggest stars of Bollywood, Shashi Kapoor breathed his last yesterday at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani hospital, Mumbai after battling a prolonged illness. He was hands down, the most good looking actor in the industry who had managed to find the perfect balance between commercial cinema by starring in blockbusters like Jab Jab Phool Khile, Namak Halal, Kabhi Kabhie and Deewar and off-beat ones like Utsav, Kalyug and Junoon.

He was also known internationally for starring in British and American films like Shakespeare Wallah, Heat and Dust in which he co-starred with his wife Jennifer Kendal and Sammy and Rosie Get Laid. Shashi was the first true blue ‘crossover’ stars from India. His theater – Prithvi theater continues to be home to innumerable struggling actors, waiting to make their mark in theater and cinema and established actors who started their journey there.

On the announcement of his death, Neetu Kapoor posted a sweet childhood photo of the actor with his supterstar father Prithviraj Kapoor.

He will be missed.
