Sanjay Leela Bhansali‘s Padmaavat has seen a ridiculous amount of hurdles over the last couple of weeks. The film, which was supposed to have released on the 1st of December was pushed due to death threats received by Deepika Padukone and Sanjay Leela Bhansali from the Karni Sena – an organisation that has continuously bullied them in the name of nationalism and history. From attacking the sets to attacking SLB himself – they have left no stone unturned in trying to stop the release of this film.

After a lot of cuts and a name change (which I think is really unfortunate), the CBFC has passed the film and it will now release on the 25th January alongside Akshay Kumar‘s Padman. If you thought that this name change and the required cuts later, Karni Sena would let them be, you were wrong.

In a shocking turn of events, some members of Karni Sena attacked a school because the students performed to Ghoomar from the film as part of their annual day programme. It took place in Ratlam’s Jora district in Madhya Pradesh and has left one student injured. It is really scary and is unfortunate that a bunch of goons are being allowed to stoop to this  level with no intervention.
