According to recent reports, an application has been filed against Salman Khan and Shilpa Shetty in Mumbai’s Bhoiwada court for allegedly using casteist slur against Scheduled Caste. They have been accused of humiliating and insulting the group by using the word bhangi on separate TV shows.
In an interview, Shilpa had said “I look like a bhangi” to described the way she dresses at home. Post this, she apologised for her statements on Twitter, saying:
Some of my words from an interview in the past have been misinterpreted.It was never said with the intent of hurting anyone’s feelings…

Salman, on the other hand, used the word to describe his dancing skills in Tiger Zinda Hai. The application is filed under sections 156 (3) of the CrPC seeking FIR under section 295 of the IPC and section 3 (1) (s) of the SC / ST act.
